Congratulations to Hilary Laughland (Mortonhall) for qualifying for the final stages of the R&A Women’s Senior Amateur Championship at Royal Dornoch.
Both Anne Hanson (Turnhouse) and Caroline Steedman (Murrayfield) fought hard in extremely tough conditions to qualify over 5-6 July but it was Hilary who pushed through to make the cut.
Competitors from all over the world come to play in the Women’s Senior Amateur so it is a challenging and talented field. The conditions didn’t let up and the additional two rounds of competitive play saw Hilary deliver a total score of 330, which put her in tied 37 place.
Terrill Samuel, an English-born Canadian was crowned Women’s Senior Amateur Championship with a total score of 309.
