Midlothian Ladies’ Golf Association (MCLGA) has a flourishing Junior Section and is committed to encouraging the participation in, and the development of, golf in the County by providing coaching and competitions for junior girls, whether they have a handicap or not. To participate in the available Coaching, Development and Competitions, including the 5 a Side League, girls must be a member of the County.
Junior Girl Membership is available to girls of all abilities (under the age of 18 on the 1st January) who reside in the County, who were born in the County, or who are members of Golf Clubs situated within ‘Midlothian County’ and affiliated to the Scottish Golf Limited.
An annual subscription of £10 is payable and Membership runs from January to December each year.
We organise monthly coaching sessions held at the Braid Hills Driving Range on the first Sunday of each month throughout the year (except July and August) under the expert tuition of Ian Young and Paul Malone. This is supported by two 9-hole competitions at Swanston Templar Course to help the girls put their skills into practice. The coaching and 9-hole competitions are aimed at girls either wanting to start golf or to improve their skills, whether they have a handicap or not. These sessions are fun and provide an opportunity to make friends, receive feedback on their golf, encourage them to join clubs, gain handicaps and enter other competitions.
The cost per year is £100, split into two payments of £50 paid in January (February to June sessions), and £50 paid in August (September to January sessions).
Please contact the Junior Administrator Hilary Laughland at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details about Coaching.
Junior Development Squad
The Junior Development Squad is a select group of girls with a handicap and who are able to cope with the demands of taking their golf to the next level. The girls are offered a structured coaching programme under the expert tuition of Chloe Thackeray and held at Turnhouse Golf Club. This takes place on Sunday mornings from 9-12pm and runs from October 2021 to April 2022, and consists of 30 hours in total.
The cost is £300.
Please contact the Junior Secretary Caroline Steedman at email@example.com for more details about the Junior Development Squad.
