We played our first Intra Squad match at Dalmahoy GC on the evening of Thursday 13th April.
The purpose of the Intra Squad matches is to provide an opportunity for team bonding and enable us to watch individual players and pairings in action ahead of selection for the annual Inter County matches in July.
Eight members of the Squad were due to play Foursomes but only seven managed along on the night. So Anne Hanson (Turnhouse) and Wendy Nicholson (Baberton) took on Karen Marshall (Baberton) and Ailsa Cackett (Broomieknowe) and won their match, and Karen Ferguson-Snedden (Mortonhall) took on the two young ones – Lucy Morrison (Gullane) and Lucy Fraser (Murrayfield) – and experience shone through with Karen clinching the match from the youngsters!
The weather was kind to us in the beginning but we knew what was coming our way at 7pm! The forecast proved accurate and the girls cut out the two ‘new’ holes to try and avoid a soaking.
Many thanks to all seven players and also to our President, Margaret Fergusson and Selector, Linda Wemyss for accompanying me round the course.
Grateful thanks also to Pam Woods, Dalmahoy Rep, for organising the tee times and to Dalmahoy GC for granting us courtesy of the course, which is very much appreciated. I’d also like to thanks the Starter, who was extremely helpful on the night.
Looking forward to our next Intra Squad match at Craigmillar Park GC on Sunday 23 April at 3pm.
