Welcome to all members as the 2024 season gets into full swing!

Lets hope the wet and windy weather is behind us and we can all enjoy some great golf this year!

Entries for the Spring meeting ( Monday 6th May – Murrayfield G.C.) are now closed and the draw will be issued soon.  Over 100 entries this year with qualifiers going forward to the  A and B Championship weekend Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May. More details to  follow on tee times for the all quarter, semi and championship finals – I hope many of you will join us to watch some great golf!

I would like to thank our Competitions committee (Maureen Joyce , Mags Hobbins, Colleen Derighetti and Fiona Findlay) for all their hard work in setting up our competitions this year in the new Scottish Golf VMS system. This hasn’t been easy with some bugs creating issues with our knockouts draws and of course supporting many of you to get to grips with the new ways of entering the MCLGA competitions.

Support will be available at the Spring meeting at registration and once you have played your round – but please do remember to bring your phone  – charged!

Our MCLGA squad warm-ups and friendly matches have been blighted by the bad weather with matches against Borders and Lanarkshire cancelled, and sadly our intra squad at Broomieknowe also hit by unplayable conditions. Lets hope the next intra squad match scheduled for May 19th (BLGS) and our annual match against St Andrews University on May 31st (Gullane) proceed as the Inter County Finals (Jamboree ) at Balbirnie Park Saturday 29th June – Tuesday July 2nd will soon be with us!

Our Juniors events have also been disrupted  by the weather but I would like to thank Amy Foster and Hilary Laughland and all our the reps and volunteers who have braved the Braids to steward our next generation of golfers as they practice and develop their game.

I hope you all participate and enjoy the schedule of MCLGA events this season – lets remember  “the secret of golf is to turn 3 shots into 2” (Bobby Jones).
