It was a lovely start to the day when I arrived at Harburn at 8.30am this morning – the sun was shining and I thought, we’re in for a good day! As the players started to arrive and get ready for their round, a light drizzle turned into a heavy downpour just as some of the early competitors teed off 🌧☔️. So full waterproofs were pulled on very quickly!
Luckily, it didn’t stay wet for that long and as the day progressed, the sun popped in and out of the clouds, resulting in overtops off and then back on, off and on again 🤣
A total of 39 members played with everything running smoothly with the SG App. Some great golf was played as shown by the results and a number of the Harburn members demonstrated their local knowledge – well done ladies!
We are very grateful to Harburn Golf Club for accommodating us today and to the standard of the Course kept by the greenkeepers. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition.
We were well looked after by all the Team at Harburn, the Assistant Professional putting temptation in our way with an array of ladies golf clothing and the Bar Staff for keeping us fed and watered.
Special thanks to Jennifer Bryans and the other Harburn volunteers for supporting me on the desk, namely, Sheila McEwan (and her husband), Betty Smith, Cynthia Tuckerman and Anne Hay. Grateful thanks also to Liz Calder and Yvonne Wilson from Turnhouse for covering the desk and to Coleen Derighetti and Fiona Findlay from Lochend for helping me with the VMS system and results – they are first class teachers 👩🏫. All our volunteers are there to ensure the check in and score return runs smoothly and are on hand to answer any general queries members have. Your support at these events is hugely appreciated and valued – thank you .
