Last night, at a special meeting of Scottish Golf it was agreed that the annual affiliation fee would be raised from £11.25 to £14.50.  Currently this will be payable on multiple memberships.

Below is a link to the September issue of the Areas and Counties neswletter.   It outlines possible cuts and initiatives considered by Scottish Golf.  One cut that could have a massive impact on MCLGA is to the £1,500 grant given to each County qualifying for the Scottish County Finals.  At last week’s East Forum meeting Andrew McKinlay stated that he is expecting the counties to respond to this proposal as it would inevitably affect the future of this competition.  While we are in a reasonable position for the immediate future, this could have a devastating affect on other smaller Counties who are cash strapped and rely on the grant to enable them to participate.  Scottish Golf have suggested that perhaps Counties should consider alternative formats that would reduce costs and perhaps reduce the number of working days involved.

I would like to hear your thoughts and am confident Louise will follow this up when she becomes Captain.

The largest initiative Scottish Golf are proposing is to develop its own digital platform and IT programme similar to Club System V1 or Intelligent Golf incorporating a booking system to BRS.  This system would be free to clubs and should enable SG to capture a contribution from non club belonging players.  The intention is to trial the system in some clubs and have it available for view at the SG Conference in December.
