At the second attempt, we finally made it to Cardrona for our annual match against Borders Ladies, the first one being cancelled due to the March snow. As we drove down to Peebles the weather seemed to get worse and worse. We got a text from Kirsten Blackwood telling us how bad the weather was at Cardrona (I’m sure she got there the night before) and we thought, here we go again.

There were a few concerned faces as we got our of our cars to be met with wind and rain. However, by the time our President arrived, complete with new hip, and we had our coffee/ hot chocolate (and bacon rolls for the Dalgetty girls), the weather was starting to improve. There were three matches played against the Borders and Midlothian won 2-1. In addition Sal Shepherd and Jessica Dalgetty took on Gabrielle Macdonald and Emily Dalgetty in a very serious match, and three of our juniors, Kirsty Simpson, Kirsty Burgess and Julia Smith played under the watchful Olivia Fulton who was an honorary junior for the day.

Some great golf was played in very windy conditions and we were more than ready for our soup and sandwiches after the 10 mile hikes from green to tee! Gabrielle endjoyed her snooze on the way home while the Captain was struggling to stay awake! Our thanks to Jenny Pearson and Borders ladies for ther excellent hospitality and for all their efforts in arranging and re-arranging the match.
