We played our final Intra Squad match before the County Jamboree at Kingsknowe GC on Friday 19 May.
Eight squad members played on the night and we couldn’t have wished for better conditions. Our Selector, Linda Wemyss and I were delighted to have the opportunity to watch the matches without wearing our usual duvet coats!
The course was looking lush and in good condition with the greens running smoothly. It was great to watch everyone play some fantastic shots and hear the banter between the players.
The Nicholson ‘Clan’ of seasoned county player, Wendy Nicholson (Baberton) and young Molly Nicholson (Prestonfield) took on seniors champ Karen Ferguson-Snedden (Mortonhall) and junior Katie Mackenzie (Craigmillar Park). Both pairs fought a good battle but it was Karen and Katie who emerged as winners clinching the match on the Par 3 15th green (4/3).
Home player Louise Fraser and Grace Cannon (Prestonfield) took on Caroline Steedman (Murrayfield) and Nicky Graham (Baberton). Again a keenly fought match which went to the 17th green, where Caroline and Nicky brought home a 2/1 win.
Grateful thanks to Kingsknowe Rep, Elaine Lumsden, for arranging the tee time for us, and to the Club for providing courtesy of the course, which is very much appreciated. Thanks too, to all the players and Selector Linda Wemyss.
The winning pairs were presented with some sweets to celebrate their victories but no-one went home empty handed as you can see from the photo, where everyone chose to pose with their prize 🤣🤣
