We played our second Intra Squad match at Broomieknowe GC on Sunday 24th April.

As mentioned in a previous post, one of the purposes of these matches is to provide an opportunity for team bonding ahead of the annual Inter County matches. So, we chose a Texas Scramble format for the eight players available with 4 drives each – 1 at a Par 3 (as there are only 3 Par 3s we included the 1st hole as a short Par4 ๐Ÿ˜Š).

Unfortunately, Caroline Steedman had to pull out on the day as she tested positive for Covid – these late changes are to be expected as we learn to live with Covid ๐Ÿ˜ข We evened up the playing field by awarding some extra shots to the group of three ๐Ÿ˜‰.

The sun that was present in the morning had gone by 3pm and it turned very cold for the players and spectators (myself and President Sheila ๐Ÿฅถ).

Grateful thanks to Broomieknowe GC for providing courtesy of the course for our two tee times and it was great to see their spectacular new Clubhouse! The course was in good condition ย and the players seemed to be having fun trying to improve on each other’s shots to gain the lowest possible score at each hole.

Many thanks to the players and to our President Sheila Stuart for accompanying me round the course.

The groupings and results were as follows:

Anne Hanson (Turnhouse), Megan Fallon (Broomieknowe) and Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe) returning 61 and beating

Lucy Morrison (Gullane), Karen Ferguson-Snedden (Mortonhall), Mollaidh Nicholson (Prestonfield) and Kate Rorke (Kingsknowe) returning 65.

Looking forward to our final Intra Squad match at Murrayfield GC on Tuesday 31 May at 5.45pm. ย Our next Friendly Match is against the Scottish Ladies Vets on Friday 20 May at Bruntsfield.
