A dull overcast and cold day with a biting westerly wind greeted the teams on the final day at Balbirnie Park Golf Club.

Midlothian going out first once again versus East Lothian.  The morning foursomes were Louise Fraser and Rachael Livingstone, Molly Nicholson and Freya Constable and Kate McIntosh and Caroline Steedman.

Rachael hit our opening drive almost reaching the green on the par 4. A very speedy pace of play lead the opening pair to the turn 2up.  They kept up the pace and closed out the match in double quick time.  Everyone turned their attentions to groups 2 and 3 who were coming through the closing holes.  Kate and Caroline closed out their game and everyone joined Freya and Molly as they headed down the last to close out A/S.   Midlothian headed into lunch 2.5-0.5.

Pressing for the win and a full house of 6pts to seal the overall victory, the singles headed out with the temperature dropping, “Hotter than July” it was not. Freya Constable, Louise Fraser, Megan Fallon, Rachael Livingstone, Kate McIntosh and Hilary Laughland.

Freya and Louise both fought hard but lost their matches at 17 and 16 respectively.  Meanwhile Megan had a resounding victory of 8&6 and this was quickly followed by Rachael with 6&5 finishing her 6 rounds unbeaten.  Kate McIntosh then closed out on 16 and everyone turned their attention to Hilary’s match to complete the victorious scorecard.  Hilary eventually closing out on the 16th.  Midlothian were victorious with another 6.5-2.5 score.

The team headed into the clubhouse for a well earned drink and dinner to warm up and celebrate their resounding success once again winning the East Division Inter-County Matches Trophy with a maximum 6 points.
