At the 104th AGM held on Wednesday 29th November 2023, Caroline Steedman stood down from the role of Junior Secretary. Caroline had held this position for 7 years, and I hope you will all agree,  has invested significant time and effort supporting  many girls as they developed from holding  their first club, gaining a handicap to competing in junior competitions, county matches and national events.

The members at the AGM, approved the appointment of Amy Foster into the Junior Secretary role. For those of you not present at the AGM or who have not met Amy, I share a short bio:

Amy was born and raised in Edinburgh, she first recalls holding her first club at 4 years old, and would often be found dropping golf balls into the cup whilst her Dad was practicing his putting on a Sunday afternoon..

At age 11, Amy joined Ratho Park Golf Club  and in the summer holidays would usually be found out on the fairways with her older brother. Whilst at Ratho, Amy achieved her level 1 PGA coaching certificate and assisted with the successful junior ClubGolf programme.

Amy moved to her now home course Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, and attended the MCLGA Junior coaching at the Braid Hills. Under the watchful eye of head coach Iain Young, Amy’s golf developed.  She was awarded the MCLGA most improved junior in 2015, after reducing her handicap from 27 to 14 in one season, and later went on to win the Ladies Club Championship at Ratho Park at age 20, then the Dalmahoy Ladies Club championship at age 21.

Amy is currently also a member of Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society as well as Dalmahoy, and enjoys playing off a single figure handicap.  Amy is passionate about giving back to the game and strives to connect and engage with players of all abilities. She also aims to support the growth of the game at grassroots level to plan and provide for the future of women in golf.
