Greensomes League 2022
This season 14 Clubs, 17 teams (some clubs run two teams) participated across two sections; A and B. A total 64 matches were played in typical Scottish weather, cold, windy, overcast,wet and then sometimes the sun shone and on occasions, it shone too brightly! This season we welcomed Newbattle who joined the league and played in Section A.
Section A (9 Teams)
Congratulations go to the Merchants 1 team on winning Section A, and the Greensomes Trophy, with 16 match points and 19.5 game points. They were victorious in all their 8 matches! Second were Ravelston 1 with 13 match points and 18 game points. Well done!
Section B (8 Teams)
Section B was, once again, very close with all teams winning some and losing some matches. Five of the 7 teams had 8 match points; Prestonfield, Glencorse, Murrayfield, Turnhouse and Mortonhall 2.
It was Prestonfield who emerged as winners of Section B, and the Greensmes Quaich, securing the top spot with 13 game points – congratulations!
Hot on Prestonfield’s heels in second place were Glencorse and Murrayfield, who tied with 12.5 game points each. So, with reference to the Terms and Conditions, the mathematics once again commenced to calculate the holes remaining to be played across all individual matches won. Murrayfield emerged in second place with 8 more holes remaining to be played than Glencorse. Well done girls!
Next season, in line with the Terms, Prestonfield and Murrayfield (as the 2 highest Teams in Section B), will move across to Section A; and Newbattle, Ratho and Kingsknowe (as the 3 lowest Teams in Section A), will move across to Section B.
