It was a warm but very windy day at Monifieth for our two remaining players at the Scottish Ladies Amateur Championship.

Karen Ferguson from Liberton, ( a new member of our squad this year) was playing very steadily until the last few holes when some slightly wayward shots into the green against her opponents on the green led to her losing a couple of holes in a row. At the 16th again unfortunately against the very strong headwind she found the bunker to the right of the green. A couple of shots to get out and that was the end of the match with Elaine Moffat (St Regulas) winning 3/2.
Karen played some excellent golf throughout the tournament which was certainly noted and commented on by some of the SLGA. Well done Karen.

Wendy Nicholson (Broomieknowe) was playing Carol Wilson (Murcar Links) in the semi final of the Clark Rosebowl . She was one down at the 8th but holed a brilliant long put to bring it back to all square. By the 13th she was 2 down having missed opportunities on the putting green. They then halved the short 14th . The 15th saw two good drives but both decided to go via the trees to the green and again halved the hole. The 16th was right into the wind which was like a four club increase. Wendy hit onto the next fairway but again managed to recover to have a put to half the hole. Unfortunately it just rolled past the hole.
Carol won 3 and 2 after a some great golf by both players.
Carol went on to win the Clark Rosebowl in the afternoon against Lesley Atkins by one hole.

The final takes place today of the Championship between Clara Young (N. Berwick) and Rachael Walker (Dumfries and County) who are both studying in America.

Clara Young won against Rachael Walker by 0ne hole after an excellent match and a magnificant birdie on the par 5 18th.
