It is with great sadness I advise you of the death of Dorothy Fraser.

Dorothy was a member of Harburn and Kingsknowe and was Junior Secretary of Midlothian from 2002 to 2004. Before that she had been assistant junior secretary when Sharon Macpherson was junior secretary. The Fraser Trophy was presented by Dorothy in 2002 for the best scratch score in the Junior Spring Meeting.

There were a good number of junior members participating in the Braids coaching and in the 9 holes competitions at the time, which were held first at Melville Golf Course then at the Braids.  There were over 20 girls with handicaps who were encouraged to play in East of Scotland and Scottish Girls events as well as the Midlothian competitions.

Dorothy also supported the County by caddying for the County Team over many years – often for the six rounds at the Jamboree!

Dorothy is Louise Fraser’s (our immediate past captain) mum. She passed very peacefully, with family by her side, on 4 November at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Dorothy’s health had not been great for a number of years.

I am sure many of you will have a connection, and fond memories, of Dorothy. She will be missed.

Our thoughts are with Louise, and all Dorothy’s family and friends, at this sad time.

As we understand, the funeral will be in Wooler but no details are known at this time.
