More than 85 members arrived at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh on Saturday January 13th to celebrate. It had been 15 years, since the Association held a Celebratory event, when back in 2009 our centenary year, members met at the Roxburghe hotel – it was good to see some who attended that event attend this year as well.

We came together to celebrate a number of special events, the retirement of our Past-Captain, Isla McCrone who led our County squad to tremendous success in 2023, winning the Inter-County Finals held at Gullane and the Scottish Finals held at Hilton Park Golf Club. It was also a time to  come together to thank all members for their time, effort, and financial contributions without which the Association would not be able to deliver our competitions, summer and winter knockouts, 5- a side leagues, much loved and supported Greensomes matches, or our Junior and County squad coaching and development programmes. Thank you to all our members – we all benefit from  your support and generosity.

Special thanks go to Anne Hanson, Jane MacDonald, Emma Morrison, Muriel Gilligan and Isla McCrone for organising the event, arranging our entertainment and  ensuring everyone enjoyed their afternoon.

It was good to see so many members gather and chat about their own successes over the past 15 years, and spend time catching up with old friends and new as we were entertained by a singer and jazz band and astounded by the slight of hand and tricks of the magician. He had so many amazing tricks but in particular evidenced to us that the most common number 1-10 we all think about is a 7 – is that because we are all golfers and only perhaps want to see that number once or twice on our card?
