Thankfully not much rain today for the Commonwealth Spoons at Ratho Park GC , but definitely a 2 to 3 club wind for the players to contend with.

This competition is run as a qualifying competition for the Scottish Final on 2nd September at Ballumbie Castle Golf Club, which is organised by SGL. 10% of the field qualify to compete in the Finals for the Commonwealth Spoons donated by the Australian Ladies’ Golf Union.  As we had 58 couples playing, the top 6 with the best nett scores will go forward to play.

The course was looking in super condition with the greens running smoothly and some great scores were returned. As always, the trees at Ratho featured in most people’s game,  sometimes helpful but many of us found ourselves right behind one at some point in our rounds.

We are very grateful to Ratho Park GC for accommodating us today and for the standard of the Course kept by the greenkeepers. Special mention to Andrew and Liz and the bar and catering staff who ensured we were all well fed and watered.

Grateful thanks to Ratho Park Rep Anne McLean, Ratho Park members Sylvia Maclean, Louise Angus, Janet Collin, Heather Hamilton and Janette McLeod, Fiona Findlay  and to our Secretary, Maureen Joyce and Competitions Secretary, Mags Hobbins for all your support.  All the volunteers work hard behind the scenes leading up to the event and on the day helping players ‘checking in’, return their scores and general queries.  We couldn’t do it without you! 🤩🤩
