A huge thank you to all the team at Murrayfield GC, for hosting our 2024 County Championship this year and especially to Hazel Peplinkski (Club Captain) for opening our prize winners ceremony this evening.
Sunday – Finals day – brought really lovely warm and sunny weather for our semi-finalists. Caddies and supporters were armed with Factor 30, water but just in case that storm came in, waterproofs and umbrellas were also to the ready!
Well played to all our finalists! W saw some really good golf which included a chip in from 25 yards, a putt made from over 25 feet, lots of great long, straight drives, and most well out the bunkers. Kate McIntosh and Rachael Livingstone won their singles matches against Caroline Steedman and Nicky Graham respectively in the ‘A’ Championship. Jane MacDonald and Meg Laidler won their singles matches against Louise Campbell and Jaci Moriaty respectively in the ‘B’ championship.
As we moved to start the finals we were on high alert as the weather forecasts had shifted from sunny skies to rain and possibly lightening!
Play in the finals did start in the rain which was a shame, but nothing like the rain last Monday!! It soon drifted away and we were back to sunglasses and high sun to watch the final rounds.
